Hot or Not Week 10

And then there was 1. The Colts stand alone, unfortunately what they stand for isn’t anything to brag about. Not a single win to speak of. Miami took their name off the winless list last week but the Colts couldn’t follow suit. I can’t believe that Manning is the only reason that the Colts have been so good in the past. One man a team cannot make, or can he. Maybe it’s his presence, or his intensity, or simply his arm that the team is so desperately in need of. If Manning is the key to the Colts winning ways, than the Colts may just be standing alone come the end of the season…alone at 0-16.

Carson Palmer; QB Oakland Raiders, Hot: Will the real Carson Palmer please stand up. Palmer played like he did in his early Bengal days. Maybe even better. Unfortunately, being “hot” for the week doesn’t always reflect in the score, but Palmer played a decent game. He threw for 332 yards and 3 touchdowns, a HUGE improvement from week 7 when he only threw for 116 yards and not a single score. He still has work to do, as the 3 interceptions he threw on the day probably led to an Oakland loss. Still, Palmer shows promise and showed on Sunday that he still might have that “mojo” that Oakland is so desperately searching for.

Curtis Painter; QB Indianapolis Colts, Not: Oh Curtis Painter, things just don’t seem to be getting any better for you. 98 yards for the whole day doesn’t really add up to much when your team hasn’t won a game all season.  Throwing for an interception just rubs salt in the wound. I’m not sure what Painter can do at this point to lead a beaten up and broken down Colts team. I wonder if Painter is even enjoying the game at this point. He is an absolutely horrible fantasy option even when your QBs are on byes and you need a desperate fill-in. Painter is not the answer for the Colts and the faster they can get through this season the faster they can move on from Painter.

Reggie Bush; RB St Miami Dolphins, Hot: Gone are the days when Bush was your #1 back who could deliver monster fantasy points. These days he’s quietly pushing the ball down the field for the Dolphins but, last week against the Chiefs he had a respectable game. He carried the ball 13 times for 92 yards and a touchdown and added 3 receptions for additional yardage. Bush probably won’t be a standout fantasy back week in and week out which makes him a little questionable as a waiver wire pickup. It is nice to see Bush being productive though..maybe his career isnt’ fading away afterall.

Chris Ogbonnaya; RB Cleveland Browns, Not: You know your day is not going to go well when you fumble the ball the first time you touch it. With Hillis and Hardesty out for the Browns they had to rely on Ogbonnaya to fill in the RB slot and that didn’t work out so well for them. Not surprisingly nothing is working out for the Browns to well these days. Ogbonnaya rushed for only 28 yards but will get the ball again this weekend against the Rams. The silver lining to this situation, the Rams are dead last in protecting the rush so maybe Ogbonnaya will be able to double his production from week 9

Julio Jones; WR Atlanta Falcons, Hot: Not a bad day for the rookie WR. He only caught 3 passes, but that’s all he needed to rack up 131 yards and 2 touchdowns. It’s not every Sunday that kind of production can happen especially when Jones isn’t getting the kind of looks that White gets, but when you get your chance you have to make the best of it. This is the 3rd time that Jones has had a 100+ yard game and if the hamstring doesn’t hinder him too much he might be able to add a 4th this weekend against the Saints.

Own Daniels; TE Houston Texans, Not: It might be safe to say that Daniels has been a fantasy bust this season. Daniels has been mediocre at best and really disappointment to all who thought they were drafting a fantasy machine. Daniels hasn’t had a 100 yard game for the season and has only managed 3 touchdowns. The Texans do face the Buccaneers this week which could provide Daniels with an opportunity to redeem himself. “Could” is not “will” so we’ll have to wait and see what he actually does before we give him any praise, but I’m sure every fantasy owner with him on their team is praying that “could” turns into points.

New York Jets DST; Hot: The Jets defense brought the Bills down to earth a bit on Sunday. They forced 3 turnovers and on the two occasions where the Bills tried to convert a 4th down, the Jets stopped them cold. The stumbling Patriots come to town on Sunday night and Brady is looking to take some of his frustration out on the Jets. If the Jets D can keep clicking the way they have been, the Patriots could be in for a long evening under the lights.

Kansas City Chiefs DST; Not: Thanks to the Chiefs defense and offense the Dolphins are winless no more. The Chiefs D did nothing to stop Miami from scoring over and over again. The defense didn’t sack the QB or cause a turnover. Teams often hope if their offense is lacking in productivity for the day their defense can pick them up. This hope obviously went unacknowledged. The Chiefs do have a chance to redeem themselves in week 10 against Denver and Tim Tebow. Interceptions can be had as long as the Defense can get their head in the game.
